Newman Center - Student Advisory Board (SAB)


Our purpose is to build upon the foundation of the New Evangelization and advance the mission of St. Paul's Newman Center through student leadership.


The mission of the Student Advisory Board is to provide students with leadership opportunities through service to their peers.


The Student Advisory Board meets at 7:00pm every 2nd Thursday of the month in the Student Lounge at the Newman Center. The meetings are open to the public and you are welcome to come sit in. The positions include, but are not limited to:

4 Masters of Ceremony: Prepares the sanctuary for weekday and weekend Masses; oversees and recruits altar servers

Music Chair: Works with music groups for weekend Masses, training, scheduling, and reminders; may also direct a group

Special Liturgies: Is responsible for promoting & recruiting Rosary leaders and Adorers for Adoration and organizing the Live Stations performance during lent; sends prayer requests to Carmelites in Wahpeton every week

Community Service Chair: Coordinates weekly or monthly service projects for students to experience hands-on service in the community

4 Social Chairs: this team plans, organizes and decorates for Newman Center dances and Thursday night events throughout the year

Womens' Ministry: Organizes and leads events, retreats and activities for the ladies of Newman to foster sisterhood

Knights of Columbus: Organizes and leads events, service and activities for the men of Newman to foster brotherhood 

Historian: Responsible for photography at Newman Center events and creating the yearbook

Video/Media Chairs: Responsible for photography, filming, editing video and uploads to the Newman Center YouTube account and Facebook

Intramural Chair: Responsible for organizing intramural teams from the Newman Center and organizing tournaments like broomball, etc.

Stewardship Chair: Helps instill a sense of generosity and stewardship amongst the student body; works closely with the Development team and fundraising events for the Newman Center

Journalism Chair: Responsible for publishing Newman happenings in the New Earth diocesan magazine and the Spectrum when relevant; also may publish articles in the bisonCatholic newsletter each semester

Graphic Design Chair: Responsible for artwork design to assist other chairpersons in promoting events and initiatives; may help create media such as posters, flyers, or artwork for Newman Center electronic media
